Root, Root-Root for the....

...ROCKIES!

Of course.
duh - whaddaya think I would say???
(that is, until they completely blow it and we start singing "Cardinals" :)

Ya, the Rockies slid (and I mean SLID) into the end of their season, losing twelve of their last sixteen games (and losing 16 of 25 in September) - quite a fall from their April 11-2 start!  No mind to us - we still support our team, and we cheered just as hard and stayed all the way to the end of the game when they lost to the Giants on September 16th (it was Fan Appreciation Night and there were fireworks after the game, but we woulda stayed anyways.  I think.  I'm almost certain. :)

At least we had up-close-and-personal seats to watch them score ONE.  WHOPPING.  RUN.
It was our last game of the season, and somehow, someway, this September game ended up being the best weather game we attended (maybe you don't remember in May when it snowed on us).  It was a beautiful, autumn-ish evening, and we loaded up some snacks and our gals and headed down to Coors Field for a night of family fun (with the help of discounted, 100-level tickets provided by the University of Colorado Hospital :)

While the girls like "watching" the game (read:  playing with the fold-up seats and eating ballpark treats), an additional main attraction at this game was DINGER!

You can see in her smile how excited she was!  Ellery, however, wouldn't get near the beloved purple dino.
She got his autograph and everything.  So.  Flippin.  Cute!

It still amazes me how much the girls like the Rockies.  I mean, we DO watch probably 80% of the games on TV, and try to go to a game once a month.  But the fact that they get into the chants and cheers and spirit of the ballpark so much really intrigues me.  It must be such a fun thing to experience when you are little!

Tanner does a ballpark chant.

Ellery eats a ballpark peanut.

Clap-clap-clap.clap.clap-clap.clap.clap.clap...TU-LO!

OK, now their cheering spirit is declining a bit...

...or completely devolving.  Whatever.

...but at least cuteness still abounds :)

By the end, Tanner couldn't even be bothered to raise her hands up for the wave.

I think this picture says it all - Tanner, without a nap, at 9pm.
Just because the season is over, however, doesn't mean we've stopped cheering for our team - in fact, the other day Tanner wore some of her Rockies purple to school.  She loves being a Rockies fan!  We're also spending our evenings cheering for our OTHER favorite baseball team - THE CARDINALS!  We don't have any official Cardinal Nation gear, but we're definitely a Denver cheering section!

(and we'll be waiting patiently for a GREAT Rockies season, starting spring 2012! :)

GO CARDS!?!?!?!?
