Does anyone else see the irony in having Teacher's Week, Nurse's Day, and Mother's Day all in the same week?
I imagine it went something like this......
"Ted, we gotta get all these 'people who think they deserve a special day' out of the way in one fair swoop. Bonnie!"
Underpaid secretary enters the office. "Yes, sir?"
"Bonnie, let's lump all these things into one week, get it over with. And why don't you just throw you 'Administrative Assistants' in there, too." (said with all the smarminess he could muster).
"Yes, sir."
Notice Bonnie made herself her own day in the fall, however.
OK, back to reality. Sorry, just had a moment.... :):):)
Just a quick blog to say HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all those absolutely wonderful women who have shaped and molded me into the woman, friend, wife, and mother I am today...and to those of you who continue to allow me to lean on you so I can be a SANE mother to my own two kids! :)
Here are a few pics of me and my two loves, one of whom, at this very moment, has decided that 90 short minutes of naptime is enough for her. Momma's got a different idea (and it's my day, dag-nabbit).
No captions necessary. My two cute girls say it all! :) |
In fact, both my kids are up and out of bed before there's a 4 on the clock. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Don't they know the rules? Especially on Mother's Day?
*sigh*
ANYWAYS, because I spent yesterday having a good time with my bestie (which included dirty ragamuffin kids, mud pies, and wine - while the Dad's went and shot guns and tasted liquor - odd combo, right??? :), today was not the "day off" of typical Mother's Day lore. Instead, laundry is running, the dishwasher is clean and needs emptied, and the mop is glaring at me from the corner, knowing it has been far too long since it got any attention. But I did get a bunch of Royal Wedding mags AND A DYSON! A REAL DYSON! The hubs done good, y'all.
Yesterday was a fun, Fun, FUN way to kick-off Mother's Day weekend, quite possibly because there wasn't alot of "mothering" going on at all. Instead, we let the kids get wet, get dirty, and play without naptimes. I'm hoping this is the stuff memories are made of, because I know for sure it is the stuff disasters are made of! :)
It honestly started innocently enough. They just wanted to play in the hose.
By 3:30pm (the hose started before lunch), previously unused cakepans were forms for mud pies. My Mimi always taught me alternative uses for kitchen tools when I was growing up!
The guys made it back from their adventure and grilled dinner for all. Smiles at the end of a fun and dirty day!
Most importantly, when the dads arrived home there were two happy Momma's (any good Dad knows that keeping Momma happy is what's REALLY important! :)
To my fellow Mom, who spends alot of her "spare" time keeping ME grounded!
Lastly, a picture of the two women who have probably have the most to do with making me who I am - somehow these two have encompassed the roles of Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend for the whole of my life. So if you like what they've done to me, CREDIT THEM! (If you don't, I suppose you could blame them :)

Such a beautiful picture. Love it.
So this wasn't quite as "quick" as I intended it to be. I kindof got off topic. Oh well, the sentiment is the same....
Happy Mother's Day, to all you Mommas, GrandMommas, Aunts, Best Friends, and Women Who Care!!! I hope you were truly blessed with a wonderful day!
